what

After a spring in lockdown, we now need the summer of purpose – a joint venture into a new era

Which purpose should our economic activity have in the future? What should the common response out of the crisis look like? How do we make sure that humanity can once again play a more important role in our economies and ecologies? We are initiating a creative dialogue to find answers to these questions.

From 26th – 28th June we bring together people from science, art and culture, politics, business, sport and society in one place – virtually and physically present.
We want to experience the effects of the crisis through personal stories, we want to be honest as we confront the reasons for the crisis and push the old boundaries to find new solutions.

There will be five major sessions over the course of three days, with lots of room for creative dialogues, workshops, lectures, hackathons and discussion forums in between. We start by analysing the status quo and work together on solutions on the second day. Day three will be centred around results and will be marked by a conclusion. During these three days we want to venture out and find a new beginning, a new wave of enthusiasm, energy and drive that will be felt around the world. In sustainable alliances, responsible partnerships and multidisciplinary teams. See more details under program

The more people take part, the greater the social creativity. And this will increase our scope for action and change!

why

It's all about humanity – the ABC of WE.

This pandemic has clearly highlighted old and new boundaries to us and is a call to action – now more than ever. At the same time, a lot of tried and tested recipes and solutions are obsolete. It is becoming increasingly apparent that we need creative thinking. A thinking that is the result of inspiring conversations and fresh dialogues.

The first day marks the anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter. Exactly 75 years ago, on 26th June 1945, 51 nations committed themselves to human rights and the peaceful co-existence of all peoples.
This is why we call the Summer of Purpose „Colloquium 51“.

Why in Germany? Only a few days later, on 1 July 2020, the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union begins. Since Germany also provides the President of the European Commission, Germany's responsibility has never been greater than now. We want to honour this responsibility – starting in Munich and all over the world.

From the current urgency and the inspiring constellation of historical context results a unique momentum. We are determined to send a powerful signal from Messe München for humanity and a new togetherness in all areas of our society. Politics and business are the driving forces behind this, flanked by the findings of science.

We are determined! Are you too?

how

In the "Summer of Purpose" from 26 - 28 June 2020, we will bring together people from politics, business, science and culture, both physicall

The form of a colloquium allows us to incorporate perspectives from all disciplines. It gives us the room for a dialogue ranging from the theory of science to the acting of business. Each of the three days will focus on a specific topic with top-class international dialogue partners. On the first and second day the "Colloquium 51" takes place, on the third day is the 10th Social Business Day .

The "Summer of Purpose" opens up an innovative space for learning from each other's new insights, sharing knowledge and experiences from the crisis and weaving it into our communities. This results in new creative models and solutions for an economically successful future driven by social and ecological consciousness.

We have gained a number of well-known contributors and we receive any time new registrations.

Where does our world stand and what will happen to it? There are only a few people who are able to give a weighty answer to it. One of them is the economist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus. Throughout the entire event, he is connected as a virtual avatar from Bangladesh. The highlight will be the 10th Social Business Day on June 28, 2020. With his manifesto "No going back", published a few weeks ago, Yunus calls on the governments of this world to radically rethink social and environmental consciousness.

Have a look at which names are added here day by day. The contributors below have already made firm commitments:
